Cool and breezy conditions made a welcome change to snow and ice at the Telford 10k as four runners in yellow and blue made the trip to Shropshire for the notoriously fast race.

James Mee, Joe Rainsford and Carl Hughes lined up for the sub-40 elite race at 10:45am. James led the way and put a recent knee injury to one side to finish 49th in 32:46, one second ahead of the first female, National XC champion Louise Damen.

Joe (33:08) followed up his best ever North Mids finish the week before with another good outing just four positions further back as London Marathon-bound Carl finished just outside his PB in 39:32.

In the mass race forty-five minutes later, Abbie Leivers showed the difference a month makes as she knocked two and a half minutes off her injury-affected Leeds Abbey Dash time to cross the line 460th in 51:26.

Steve Ashmore headed a strong Heanor RC contingent at the North Derbyshire RC-hosted Bolsover 10k. The long-running event is one of the largest 10ks in the region and Steve finished just outside the top-20 in 36:30.

Paul Clarke (39:45), Ed Godber (41:55) – with his second-fastest 10k of the year – and Steve Wardle (47:08 – with a bad ankle) rounded off 2013 with solid performances as Paul Winfield (42:56) matched his time from Leeds four weeks before despite the windy conditions.

Lizzie Poole and Jo Potter crossed the line together in 48:34 whilst Steve Skelton (47:39) and Dawn Morland (58:00) also took advantage of one of the last 10k racing opportunities of the year.
