Heanor Running Club made it a clean-sweep for the season at the final BDL road race of 2014 as an all yellow and blue top-six saw the men retain the title for another year and the women regain top-spot from Sutton Harriers following five wins out of five.

On home-turf at Shipley Hall Cricket Club, thirty-two runners turned out to round-off the campaign in style and follow-up team victories at Teversal Grange, Ilkeston Rugby Club, Denby and Carsington Reservoir.

Dale Annable took the individual honours for the second-year-running after breaking away around Mapperley Reservoir midway through the second lap. Dale led home a top-six that will most-likely line up as the Midland 6-Stage team next month and held off both Chris and Joe Rainsford to cross the line seven seconds clear in 27:22.

Louise Insley returned to form to take victory in the women’s category. Louise (32:15), who will toe the line at the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham this weekend for the British Masters 5,000m Championships, finished thirty-six seconds ahead of her nearest rival and 29th overall.

Other notable runs came from the returning Tim Robinson, the recently-holidayed but ill Wendy Mullineux in 85th, V60 Eddie Baynes, who finished 90th in his first race for HRC in almost ten years, and debutante Mark Tomlinson.
