Carl Hughes and Lee Perkins have won the club’s two places for the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon in the draw made this evening at the Heanor RC Christmas meal at Denby Lodge.

Carl and Lee were joined in the draw by Andy Marriott, Tim Holling, Sarah Lewis, Sarah Fullaway, Lizzie Poole and Wendy Mullineux after all eight were rejected in the original ballot.

First run in 1981, the 26.2 mile race in the nation’s capital will be Carl’s third time over the distance. Carl has previously competed in Chester in 2012 and Blackpool earlier this year, where he clocked his PB of 3:20:09.

The race will take place on Sunday 13th April (seventeen weeks today) and will be Lee’s debut at the distance.
