Fifteen in action plus individual success at hot & humid Tara Kinder 10k

Dale Annable and Lisa Palmer took the victories at the Tara Kinder 10k on Friday night as a total of fifteen Heanor RC runners competed in the humid conditions among the 415 that finished the popular race.

dale and tomThe race was the fifth of eight in the 2014 Run Derby series and Dale enjoyed a comfortable win to further boost his chances of individual success in the series overall. Dale ran clear and finished over two minutes ahead of his nearest rival at Elvaston Castle in 33:00.

Lisa (37:50) continued her winning 2014 form to take the women’s honours ahead of clubmate Louise Insley and also finished 17th overall.

Louise (39:20) returned following a few weeks out of the racing firing-line whilst the consistent Jill Burke (42:59) sneaked inside 43 minutes to finish fourth-female and first in the V45 category.

Lizzie Poole and Rita Fisher matched each other stride-for-stride and crossed the line together in 48:43, which represented a fabulous 24-second PB for Rita. Jo Potter (52:50) rounded-off the women’s efforts with a sub-53 clocking.

On the men’s side of things, Tom Roethenbaugh (36:38) edged inside the top-10 in his first race back in Derbyshire since returning from university whilst Robin Clegg finished 33rd in 39:32.

The quartet of Lee D’Arcy (43:32), Robert Page (44:12), John Flint (46:16) and Matt Chambers (47:39) all finished inside the 40-50 minute time bracket and made the best of the sticky conditions.

Gary Fletcher (50:21) and Steve Wardle (50:23) finished within two seconds of each other in 190th and 191st respectively.

Two days later at the Long Eaton 5 Mile road race, Andy Parkin and Stephen Jennings were the only participants in the yellow and blue among the 196 finishers.

In a race won outright by Charnwood AC’s Juliet Potter in 27:55, Andy (30:18) crossed the line eighth and finished 2nd V40 whilst Stephen (30:41) took the V50 honours just three positions behind.
