A small band of Heanor RC juniors made the short trip to Rutland Sports Centre, Ilkeston for the second Derbyshire XC Mini League fixture of the season on Saturday.

In wet conditions, Phoebe Winfield kicked HRC interest off in the U11G event. Phoebe improved by two positions on her previous outing at Tupton Hall to finish a fabulous sixth. Tom Bailey followed Phoebe with a 12th place run in the U11B event.

Leading from start to finish, Lily Winfield made it two wins from two as she took the honours in the U13G race. Lily edged out Ashleigh Armstrong by four seconds to continue her recent great run of form, which also included victory at the Leeds Abbey Junior Dash two weeks ago.

Repeating Lily’s winning feat, Dylan George scored victory in the U15B event. After being beaten into third by Chesterfield’s Elliot Meylan in the first fixture, Dylan turned the tables to go two better and take first place by five seconds in what the watching Paul Winfield described as a “fantastic tussle”.
