Lisa Palmer leads ladies to victory at latest BDL
Heanor RC ladies were on fire at the latest BDL at Chaddesden Park as the men managed a fourth-placed finish.
In the second race of the weekend cross country double-header, twenty three runners in yellow and blue turned out and marked Remembrance Sunday with a moment’s silence before the race.
Once the action got underway, Lisa Palmer sparkled to comfortably cross the line first female and inside the top-20 overall.
Backing Lisa up nicely were Wendy Mullineux (72nd) and Jill Burke (86th) – with Wendy Roethenbaugh only sixteen seconds further back in 90th – and the trio’s combined efforts saw the team improve on the opening fixture last month to finish first and move to joint-top with North Derbsyhire overall.
Tim Holling was the leading man in yellow and blue on the men’s side of things, winning out in a sprint finish with Nick Baker of North Derbyshire to take third on the line. Steve Ashmore finished just behind Lisa in 18th whilst an ill Lee Perkins placed a decent 32nd.
Robin Clegg (40th), Simon Neumann (51st), Andy Marriott (53rd) and Ed Godber (65th) completed the team’s scorers as the fourth-placed finish now sees the team lying fourth overall after two races.
