Congratulations to Lily Winfield, who secured the qualification standard for the English Schools Championships over 1500m at the Derbyshire Track & Field Championships last weekend.

Lily, who has chipped away at her personal best all summer and has already ran twelve seconds faster than her best time from 2014, clocked 4:49.36 – inside the 4:50.00 English Schools mark – in finishing joint-first at Moorways last weekend.

Victory over 800m at the same championships in a time of 2:21.20 has also seen the thirteen year old knock six seconds off that particular personal best this summer.

With a junior girls qualifying standard of 2:19.00 not yet out of reach, Lily could yet bag that standard too for the championships to be held in Gateshead on the second weekend of July.
