This weekend sees another cross country league double-header, with the final North Midlands XC taking place at Wollaton Park, Nottingham on Saturday (11/01) before the penultimate BDL XC of the season at Allestree Park, Derby on Sunday (12/01).

North Midlands XC League

Solid team packing saw the HRC men’s team finish third for the second race running on home turf at Shipley Park last time out, putting the team in a strong position to repeat their third place finish overall from 2013.

There were a pair of tenth placed finishes for Dylan George & Danielle Smith in the junior races as Lily Winfield recorded her best North Mids finish of the season so far to finish third. Phoebe competed in the U11 fun run whilst Milly Newton made a welcome return to racing for HRC in the U17G race.

This weekend’s fixture is hosted by Notts AC at Wollaton Park, which will also be the venue for the National XC in six weeks’ time.

BDL XC League

Stuart King led home a HRC 1-2-3 at Trent Meadows, Long Eaton in the last BDL before Christmas as the yellow and blue claimed both team category honours.

The men wrestled back control of overall top-spot as the ladies, led by Lisa Palmer, established a healthy and almost unassailable advantage over nearest rivals North Derbyshire with two races remaining.
