With the summer season beginning to draw to a close, thoughts now turn towards the mud and tears of another impending cross country campaign.

Heanor Running Club competes in two cross country leagues during the winter months – the North Midlands Cross Country League and the Booth Decorators League. The juniors also compete in the Derbyshire XC Mini League.

There are four North Mids fixtures, starting in October and running through to January, with the range of age category races taking place on Saturday afternoons.

Stuart King and Lily Winfield picked up individual honours last season whilst the senior men took bronze in the overall team standings for the second-successive year. More information on the league structure HERE.

The BDL season involves five races spread from October until February and races of 4-5 miles take place at 11:00am on Sunday mornings.

Similar to the summer season just gone, Heanor RC completed a cross country team clean sweep in 2013-14 and there were individual honours for Joe Rainsford, Chris Mellors and Jill Burke amongst others.
