Heanor Running Club will have two men’s and two women’s teams competing at the Midland Counties 12 & 6 Stage Road Relays this Sunday 16th March.
Following the cancellation of last year’s event due to the snow and icy conditions, HRC was denied its debut in the Midland competition having previously competed in the Northern event.
On the same Sutton Park course as the club history-making fourth & sixth-place finishes for the men’s and women’s teams last September at the Midland 6 & 4 Stage Road Relays, thirty-six in yellow and blue will be hoping to better those achievements this weekend in one of the highlights on the club racing calendar (& if you don’t believe me, read THIS).
The men will tackle twelve stages – four long stages of 5.08 miles ran alternately from the starting gun, with the remaining eight short legs of 3 miles sandwiched between and comprising the final five stages. The ladies will take on six stages of 3 miles each.
With qualification for the final on Saturday 5th April up for grabs, the men will start at 12:00pm whilst the women’s race will kick off twenty minutes later at 12:20pm.
